Welcome to The Carthouse — A Peaceful Country Retreat Full of Character
Steeped in history and countryside charm, The Carthouse was once the farm’s old cart store, with turnips stored above during the winter months. Today, it’s been lovingly converted into a beautiful two-bedroom cottage that combines its original rustic features with modern comfort and style — perfect for couples, friends, or small families seeking a peaceful escape.
The Romantic Upstairs Bedroom
Upstairs, the spacious main bedroom is a real retreat. With its elegant slipper bath set within the room, you can soak and unwind under the exposed beams after a day exploring the coast or countryside. There’s also a separate toilet and sink room, a built-in wardrobe, and a charming cheval mirror — everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
A Cosy Downstairs Twin Room
Downstairs, the second bedroom has two single beds — ideal for friends or family members travelling together. Just two steps up from the bedroom is a modern shower room with a large double shower, sink, and toilet.
Warm and Welcoming Living Space
The open-plan living area is designed for comfort and togetherness. A fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare home-cooked meals, with a dining table that naturally separates the kitchen from the lounge.
The living area itself features two comfy two-seater sofas and a cosy armchair, all set around an electric wood-burning effect fire — perfect for curling up with a book or enjoying a quiet evening in. One of the most unique features of the cottage is its original cobble wall — built from local beach stones centuries ago — giving the room real character and a tangible link to the area’s heritage.
Outdoor Spaces to Relax
To the front of the cottage, French doors open onto a level decked area with outdoor seating, where you can sit back and take in the peaceful view across our paddocks. You’ll often spot our two friendly horses, Romy — a handsome Friesian — and Missy, a traditional Gypsy Cob, grazing nearby. In the far corner of the field, you might even see Hope, our much-loved pig, pottering about.
At the back of the cottage, a stable door opens to another outdoor seating area — perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening drink with the top half open to let in the countryside air.
